Postulancy After being introduced to the community and announcing her candidacy officialy, the applicant is admitted to the postulancy, which lasts at least 8 months. During this time, the postulant becomes familiar with lifestyle that combines solitude and separation from the world with the requirements of our community under the care and guidance of the Novice Mistress. NovitiateThe novitiate begins with the ritual during which the candidate receives the habit of the Order, white veil and new religious name. The main task of the novitiate, which lasts two years, is to familiarize the novice with the spirit of following Christ as a Teresian Carmelite, focusing on life in the presence of God and seeking Him in everything, in silence and solitude as well as among the daily activities. Temporary Vows - Temporary vows are taken for a year at a time for three years. Perpetual Vows – After completing the three year period of temporary vows, the nun makes perpetual profession.. From that time on, she becomes a permanent member of the monastery community.

Before beginning postulancy, a candidate must have completed at least high school and be in good physical and mental health.
